Hi everyone! Here's an easy way you can turn a cardboard box and some freezer paper into a shadow puppet theatre!
What you need:
For the Theatre
- a cardboard box
- freezer or parchment paper
-an exacto knife
- packing tape
- a sharpie marker (optional)
-scrap fabric (optional)
- a stapler (optional)
- hot glue and hot glue gun (optional)
For the Puppets
-thin cereal box cardboard
- long wooden dowels
Open your box out flat and cut an opening in the center of the box.
Remove the top flaps and the side of the box opposite to your opening
Fold the box back together and replace the flap on the bottom (from where you removed the back) to make it stand flat.
Once the box is standing, cut out a piece of freezer paper a little larger than the opening and tape or glue it to the inside of the box opening.
You can make a decorative top for your theatre at this point and (also optionally) create some fun theatre curtains by cutting two strips of scrap fabric and stapling them to the backside of your decorative finish. Once stapled, glue the decorative top to the top of the theatre "screen"
To make the theatre figures, cut out silhouettes from thin cardboard and glue onto wooden dowels. The children will really enjoy this part too!
Then, let the show begin!
